Renewable Energy from Biomass
The working team provides scientific and technical support in the field of sustainable land use. Our main research topics are agri-environmental analysis and biomass analyses from agriculture and forestry. Special emphasis is given to develop methodological approaches for analysing key-environmental impacts of bioenergy production in Europe. Therefore we use geostatistical methods referring to the European, national and regional level.
Our current subjects are listed below:
- update of agri-environmental indicators
- analyses of regional bioenergy potential: GIS-based modelling of biomass potential considering crop rotation, soil fertility and carbon balance
- development of GIS-based methods for biomass potential analyses of grassland
- investigation of short rotation coppices: installation of field trials, development of site specific management systems, yield modelling of SRC
- landscape planning & bioenergy: landscape scenery analyses, regional bioenergy development planning
- energy wood logistics: investigation and optimisation of regional value chains
- bioenergy for transport and heat: market analyses, business models, feasibility analyses
- Master Class Course Conference “Renewable Energies”.
