Responsibilities of the equality officer: the equality officer advises and supports the President and the other bodies and institutions of the University in all matters pertaining to the equality of men and women, especially with regard to targets, structure and personnel decisions and producing and implementing the equality concept and the equality plans.
They inform the members, students and employees of the university and accept suggestions and complaints. The equality officer is a member of the State Conference of Equality Officers (LaKoG). Gender-appropriate language is frequently a cause of uncertainty. The website of the Brandenburg Ministry for Employment, Social Affairs, Women and Family (MASF) provides helpful tips.
See the German Department of Office Organisation and Office Technology (BBB) Leaflet M 19 "Sprachliche Gleichbehandlung von Frauen und M├Ąnnern" (Equal Linguistic Treatment of Women and Men) or the "Gender in der Verwaltungssprache" (Gender in Administrative Language) guide.
